Propuestas teóricas para la comprensión del pentecostalismo chileno

Abstract

The following article proposes theoretical approaches for the understanding of Chilean Pentecostalism through the review and analysis of specialized academic productions, taking into account two main axes: the conditions of marginality of the local evangelical population and their conversion processes, and then moving on to a culturalist view of the phenomenon of the growth of Pentecostalism, from an interdisciplinary perspective. This exercise will allow us to reflect on the characterization and representation of Creole Pentecostalism, as well as to understand the main lines of argument of research on the subject that seek to explain the particularities of this religion and its anchorage with the urban popular sectors, in order to then broaden the look to other social sectors, themes and conflicts.
