Propuesta de un modelo de medición del poder marítimo de las naciones

Abstract

El poder marítimo de una nación es un factor crucial para su desarrollo y su seguridad, y al mismo tiempo involucra diversas variables que lo hacen un concepto relativo y complejo de comparar con los demás países de la región y el mundo. Por ello, este artículo busca proponer un modelo de medición del poder marítimo que permita evaluar los Estados, así como hacer comparaciones entre ellos. Para ello se parte de conceptos navales doctrinarios básicos, con el fin de construir definiciones claras y medibles de poder marítimo, desarrollo marítimo, seguridad marítima y poder naval, para generar los indicadores e índices necesarios que sustentan la validez y confiabilidad del modelo. Finalmente se presentan los resultados de su aplicación en una muestra global y regional.
