Proposal of Method of Removal of Mould Material from the Fine Structure of Metallic Foams used as Filters

Abstract: Metallic foams are materials that are subject of an ongoing research with the broad applicability in many different areas (e.g. automotive industry, building industry, medicine, etc.). These metal materials contain in their structure artificially created pores. These pores give them specific properties, such as: large rigidity at low density, high thermal conductivity, capability to absorb energy, etc. Since the discovery of porous metallic materials numerous methods of production have been developed. The aim … Show more

“…Their specific internal structure gives them a very convenient combination of physical and mechanical properties, such as low specific weight and high rigidity together with high capability to absorb the impact energy. In the framework of the concept of "metal foam" we can talk about materials both with closed and interconnected internal cavities -pores -with different layout, shape and size [4][5][6].…”

“…Among other aspects, the preparation method of the metallic lattice structures mainly includes investment casting [5,20], additive manufacture [6,21,22], deformation forming [2], woven metal textiles [23][24][25][26][27] and so on. Although these methods can produce many different metallic lattice structures, their limitations are still obvious.…”
