Proposal for detection of non-Markovian decay via current noise

Abstract: We propose to detect non-Markovian decay of an exciton qubit coupled to multi-mode bosonic reservoir via shot-noise measurements. Non-equilibrium current noise is calculated for a quantum dot embedded inside a p-i-n junction. An additional term from non-Markovian effect is obtained in the derivation of noise spectrum. As examples, two practical photonic reservoirs, photon vacuum with the inclusion of cut-off frequency and surface plasmons, are given to show that the noise may become super-Poissonian due to thi… Show more

“…We believe that the observation of fine triplet structure of electron fringes on top of B-doped nanocrystals provides insight into the possible nature of these geometrical selection rules. As it was shown in the earlier published experimental and theoretical studies of metallic nanostructures [1,2,[4][5][6]10], the magic sizes can develop due to quantum size-effect. According to this electronic growth mechanism, as long as the size of the nanostructure remains less than…”

“…According to this concept, the electron de Broglie wavelength controls the geometry of nanostructures and establishes the preferred size. The hypothesis of electronic growth had been already confirmed by observation of ''magic'' heights in thin metal films [2,[4][5][6], and observation of magic-sized 2D molecular self-assembly on Cu(111) surface [10].…”

“…The ongoing progress in measuring tiny fluctuations of charge currents through nanoscale conductors 1,2,3 has led to an increased theoretical interest in non-Markovian effects revealed in such experiments 4,5 . Of particular interest are the non-Markovian dynamics induced by the coupling to fermionic 6,7 and/or bosonic 8,9,10 environments and their influence on steady-state transport observables such as the cumulants of the stochastic charge transfer process 11 . Our present work focuses on such effects due to the coupling to electronic reservoirs.…”
