Proposal and Performance Evaluation of a Hetetodyne 8-PolSK Optical Transmission System

Abstract

An hetetodyne 8-PolSk optical transmission system is proposed and its performance characterized by means of simulation. Results obtained demonstrate an efficient performance (when carrying 30 Gbit/s) until 40 km with G.652 fiber. When carrying 10.5 Gbit/s, the system supports fiber lengths up to 300 km with assumable degradation.
