Abstract:RationaleMalondialdehyde, one of the peroxidation products of polyunsaturated fatty acids, has been widely reported as an oxidative stress biomarker in many diseases. However, malondialdehyde is inherently unstable in biological matrices, which renders its measurement unreliable with all the reported analytical methods. To find an alternative oxidative stress biomarker, we envisioned that N‐(2‐carboxyethyl)proline, a modified conjugate of malondialdehyde and proline, could be a stable candidate for this purpos… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
