Proporties and Synthesis of Biosilver Nanofilms for Antimicrobial Food Packaging

Abstract: In this original research, biodegradable corn starch (CS) and wheat gluten (wg)-based silver nanofilms were synthesized and analyzed by using goji berry extract taurine (ta), garlic extract (GC), whey powder (wh), and montmorillonite clay nanoparticles. Antibacterial-corn-starch-based nano films were analyzed by using the methods of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR-ATR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), dynamic and mechanical (DMA) analysis, and scanning elec… Show more

“…The container was tightly closed with lid and conditioned in an oven at 40 °C for 1 day except n‐heptane simulant, which was kept at 38 °C for 2 hrs. The films were removed and the simulant is subjected to inductively coupled plasma with optical emission spectrometry (ICP‐OES) anlaysis for the quantitative determination of AgNPs [59,60] …”

“…(2) 10% ethanol, simulant imitating liquid foods; and (3) 3% acetic acid, simulant imitating acidic foods. The right choice of material is a very effective method to extend the shelf life of foods [107]. Mackevica et al measured Ag migration from commercial polymer nanocomposites, observing higher migration (up to 0.31 µg/dm 2 ) into the acidic medium and non-detectable migration (<0.06 µg/dm 2 ) into 10% ethanol and water [108].…”

“…Optimizing every stage of production, from the extraction of raw materials to aerogel formation, is crucial. The introduction of novel processing techniques, such as continuous manufacturing processes, can minimize production costs [154][155][156][157][158]. Exploring the use of waste streams from other industries as feedstock for bio-based aerogels improves cost efficiency and is in line with the principles of the circular economy [157][158][159][160][161].…”
