Abstract: The physical and chemical properties of three tantalum tungstates, in the range from 27 to 69 mole percent tungsten oxide, were investigated. Thermal-contraction behavior was explained by a mechanism ot the tilting ot polyhedra; hysteresis behavior was ascribed to plastic deformation.
