Abstract:Using magnetohydrodynamic simulations of fluctuation dynamos, we perform broadbandwidth synthetic observations to investigate the properties of polarized synchrotron emission and the role Faraday rotation plays in inferring the polarized structures in the intracluster medium (ICM) of galaxy clusters. In the saturated state of the dynamo, we find a Faraday depth (FD) dispersion σ FD ≈ 100 rad m −2 , in agreement with observed values in the ICM. Remarkably, the FD power spectrum is qualitatively similar to M(k)/… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
