Properties of Gobi Aggregate and Sulfide‐Rich Tailings Cemented Paste Backfill and Its Application in a High‐Stress Metal Mine

Abstract: This experiment studied the influence law of the strength of CPB affected by tailings content, Gobi aggregate content, cement content, and slurry concentration. The results show, for the CPB with concentration of 77%, when the addition amount of cement reaches 20%, the addition amounts of tailings and Gobi aggregate change within the ranges of 12∼24% and 56∼68%, respectively. The strength of CPB has been gradually improved when the addition amount of Gobi aggregates decreases and the addition amount of tailing… Show more

“…Sulfidic tailings can be classified according to their sulfur content as low (S < 5%), medium (5% < S < 20%), and high sulfur-containing tailings (S > 20%) [57]. In order to discuss general aspects of the chemical composition of sulfidic tailings, examples of the chemical compositions of medium and highly sulfidic metal tailings were collected from 18 publications, most of which address solidification/stabilization and CPB of sulfidic tailings [25,31,42,[44][45][46][47][48]50,[52][53][54][55][56][58][59][60][61]. Table 4 shows a summary of the compositions collected.…”

“…Currently, research on Gobi aggregate primarily focuses on the field of mine filling. For instance, Yang et al [2] examined the impact of the water-cement ratio and Gobi aggregate substitution rate on the fluid pressure drop of whole tailings and Gobi aggregate paste, utilizing a validated friction coefficient model. Deng et al [3], through experimental studies, clarified that a reasonable ratio of tailings to Gobi aggregate in backfill material is 1:4.…”

“…As the most environmental protection mining method, the backfill method has been attached great importance by mining enterprises and gradually applied in mines. Especially in recent twenty years, different backfill methods with various backfill materials according to conditions of mines have played an important role in safe production in mines [1][2][3][4]. Whether the backfill mining could be applied in a mine or not is determined by whether the cost of backfill is acceptable to a mine enterprise.…”
