PROPERTIES OF FERROELECTRIC P(VDF-TrFE) 70/30 COPOLYMER FILMS AS A GATE DIELECTRIC

Abstract: We directly formed the organic ferroelectric P(VDF-TrFE) 70/30 copolymer film by the spin coating for making the MFS structure in the silicon wafer. To understand the crystallization behavior of P(VDF-TrFE) 70/30 copolymer, the morphologies of copolymer thin films were studied by AFM and XRD. AFM studies revealed that as grown and annealed films showed surface roughness greater than amorphous films due to crystallization. The XRD spectrum of the films subjected to various annealing temperatures showed β-phase … Show more

“…PVDF has also attracted researchers' attention because it exists in several polymorphic phases [7]. Due to its unique properties, such as high electrical break down strength (>8000 kV cm −1 ) [8], large coercive field values (1000-1500 kV cm −1 ) [9] and high piezoelectric coef ficient d 33 (∼30 pC/N) [10], PVDF is widely used in trans ducers, actuators, sensors, nonvolatile memory devices and vibrational energy harvesting applications [11][12][13][14][15]. It can also be used in regulation of cell culture growth and largearea applications requiring aqueous surroundings [16].…”

“…The results show that the XRD diffraction peak is observed at 2θ = 20.05°, corresponding to the typical range of β phase, which is expected to show ferromagnetic hysteresis ( Fig. 1 e) [ 33 , 34 ]. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) was used to characterize the surface morphology of the P(VDF-TrFE) film, P(VDF-TrFE) showed large round grains ( Fig.…”

“…Both M1 and M2 show clear butterfly-shaped hysteresis curves, which means that the ferroelectric β-phases of the P(VDF-TrFE) thin films were well crystallized by thermal treatments performed at 140 °C. 41) P-E hysteresis characteristics of both capacitors were also evaluated. There were marked differences in P-E characteristics between M1 and M2, as shown in Figs.…”
