“…The literature survey shows that as deposited cadmium stannate films are amorphous in many experiments. By annealing these films at different temperatures in vacuum or in the atmosphere of various gases or mixture of gases polycrystalline films were obtained [1][2][3]5,7,[11][12][13][14][15][16]19,23]. In the present work as deposited films prepared at 500°C confirm the formation of Cd 2 SnO 4 thin films when compared with the corresponding XRD of the JCPDS data [31].…”

“…Cd 2 SnO 4 is an n-type semiconductor [1] and have great technological interest due to their high quality electrical and optical properties superior to the conventional transparent conducting oxide materials [2,3]. In addition, these films have wide applications in photogalvanic cells [4], liquid crystal displays [5], heat mirrors [6], transparent electrode [7] and solar cells [8][9][10]. Recently it has been reported that, Cd 2 SnO 4 thin films have several significant advantages in the CdTe/CdS based solar cells.…”

“…If we assume that the conducting carriers originate entirely from the doubly charged oxygen (here taking Z to be 2), the x should be lower than that if we assume the conducting carriers only originate from tin dopant, in order to fit the simulation well with the experimental data. Furthermore, the strong dependence of the electric properties of the TCO films on oxygen has been observed in the preparation of almost all TCO films such as In 2 O 3 [69], In 2 O 3 :Sn (ITO) [54,70], ZnO:Al (ZAO) [58], SnO 2 :F, SnO 2 :Sb [71] and Cd 2 SnO 4 (CTO) [72]. All these results indicate the existence of a narrow oxygen window for low-resistivity/high-transparency TCO films and the oxygen is critical for the deposition of high-quality TCO films.…”

“…14 Because of their optical and electrical characteristics, CTO films are good candidates as transparent conductive electrodes in CdS/CdTe and CdS/CIGS type solar cells. Therefore CTO films may find applications in photovoltaic cells 8,9,14,21,22 liquid crystal displays 23 and heat mirrors. 24 Recent studies show that cadmium tin oxide thin films can be used also in development of unconventional radiation dosimeters.…”
