Properties and characterization of acrylic latex prepared with novel emulsifiers

Abstract: The polyacrylate latex has been successfully prepared by semicontinuous seeded emulsion polymerization with methyl methacrylate (MMA), butyl acrylate (BA), and acrylic acid (AA), which were initiated with potassium persulfate and emulsified with the novel green mixed surfactants of alkyl polyglycoside (APG1214) and disodium laureth sulfosuccinate (MES). The particle size of the latex was measured by Zetatrac dynamic light scattering detector. The structure of the latex was tested by Fourier-transform infrared … Show more

“…At present, there are few studies on self-crosslinked long fluorocarbon acrylate polymer emulsions, and most of them are independent studies on self-crosslinked acrylate polymer emulsions and fluorocarbon acrylate polymer emulsions (Kim et al, 2017;Chen et al, 2018;Chen et al, 2008;Dou et al, 2014;Lu et al, 2019;Lian, 2018;Wang, 2009;Mondal et al, 2021;Machotova et al, 2020). The application of cross-linking monomers in the preparation of polymer emulsions mainly uses the cross-linking monomers themselves or with other monomers to form cross-links to transform polymer molecules from a linear structure to a network structure, which can significantly improve the properties of the polymer, hydrophobicity and friction resistance of the product (Meng et al, 2020).…”

“…At present, there are few studies on self-crosslinking fluorocarbon acrylate polymer, mostly for self-crosslinking modification or fluorine modification (Kim et al , 2017; Chen et al , 2018; Chen et al , 2008; Lu et al , 2019; Mondal et al , 2020). The use of fluorinated monomers and cross-linking monomers alone resulted in poor performance or failed to achieve desired results.…”
