Propagation Dynamics and Some Ecological Aspects of Emberiza Aureola Within River Valleys in the Northern Lower-Volga Region

Abstract

The propagation dynamics of Emberiza aureola Pallas, 1773, is considered on the basis of the literature data and our field surveys conducted in 1996–2010 within the Saratov region and adjacent territories. At the end of the 20 century and in the first years of the 21 century, E. aureola showed distinct tendency to nesting habitat reduction in the region. The local nature of distribution and the low abundance of E. aureola form grounds for its inclusion into the third edition of the Red Book of the Saratov region.
