Facing development requirements and changes in the global energy context, Morocco has begun a process of diversification of the national energy mix in favor of renewable energy, while ensuring a competitive energy, in terms of costs, availability of products and their security and sustainability. Within this framework, Morocco launched in 2009 a national energy strategy whose major orientations focus on the security of energy supply and the generalization of its access, the preservation of the environment, through the use of renewable energy, energy efficiency, the strengthening of interconnection and regional cooperation. Through this article, the current state of the Moroccan network will be studied, as well as its potential in terms of renewable energy. Some strategies to overcome the challenges facing smart grid deployment in Morocco will also be presented. Then, the long-term energy demand, generation capacity, and renewable energy evolution in Morocco around 2030 will be estimated based on a time series using the artificial neural network method, which can be injected into the grid without causing any transit restrictions on the utility network or on the whole power system. As a result, the wind power available capacity was estimated to be 4087 MW, and the solar power available capacity was estimated to be 4713 MW by 2030. These results will be then compared to those estimated with the mathematical method. As well as, with the accuracy results of similar studies with different time series forecasting techniques. The accuracy value of this study is between 1.2% and 3.5%. So, the performance and viability of the proposed model can be studied.

In recent years, the transition to a more sustainable and clean system has focused on the accelerated development of renewable energy technologies. This transition can be perceived as a major priority, especially with the current environmental concerns, threatening various aspects of human life. The objective of this article is, therefore, to highlight the role of the supply chain in the renewable power generation sector. In this context, a detailed assessment of the supply chain contribution to the renewable energy sector is presented. Next, the performance of the renewable energy supply chain is qualitatively evaluated by illustrating the various barriers against continuing development, and the key measures are recommended to overcome these barriers. Then, the main factors influencing the performance of the supply chain are identified and key performance indicators related to the renewable energy supply chain are established to achieve high efficiency and sustainability performances in the power sector.

The issues associated with the generation of own electric power by consumers who install solar photovoltaic (PV) panels (known as solar distributed generation, or DG), attracts rapidly growing attention of both policy-makers, regulators and the members of the general public. Distributed generation (DG) comes with a lot of benefits: being the most sustainable, cleanest source of energy, solar products facilitates local priorities, such as economic growth, internal security, mitigation against climate change, and employment opportunities. However, there is another side of the coin: despite the rapid success of solar DG, it is still faced with a plethora of issues and challenges. An increase in the rooftop solar PV in might results in a transfer of wealth and costs between customer groups. There are elderly, disabled and chronically sick citizens who cannot benefit from generating their own electric power using solar PV panels, but who might still face higher electricity bills due to the higher policy support charges (levies) and taxes aimed at supporting decarbonisation through distributed generation. Overall, it appears that current network charging regime is likely to be unfit in the presence of solar PV households who do not contribute to the grid as they should be.
