Promotion of renewable energy in Morocco

Abstract: The article analyses the problems of renewable and fossil based energy consumption. Particular emphasis is put on the promotion of renewable energy technologies. Morocco implements the energy efficiency programmes in the parallel with the Wind promotion plan and Morocco Solar Plan, which is one of the largest projects in the world. The authors of the article focus on the obstacles and barriers of implementing renewable energy promotion plan in Morocco. The investigation shows that Morocco faces with a lack of … Show more

“…There is currently considerable biomass potential in Morocco, with over 5,350,000 ha of forest, an area of Halfa of almost 3,300,000 ha, an agricultural area of around 9,000,000 ha, and a highly diversified livestock population (cattle, sheep, etc.) of around 7,000,000 livestock units [23]. Despite its large biomass resources, Morocco currently has less than 1% of its potential capacity due to high initial costs and limited knowledge of energy production techniques and processes.…”

“…Furthermore, the importance of customer engagement is increasing throughout the supply chain, due to a more complex energy ecosystem in the power sector, especially in the use of renewables. These developments in electrical engineering require a more flexible and extended relationship between customers and firms [124]. As a result, all customers are enabled to generate, store, and exchange their electricity, as well as to monitor and manage electricity [125].…”

“…There has been a rising need for affordable, green energy in the world that stepped on the path of sustainable growth, decarburization, and climate protection. Unlike the previous years, today's policy makers and regulators require a different context of the market and the economy with the inclusion of planning for the growth of renewable energy (Vosylius et al 2013;Raudeliūnienė et al 2014;Baublys et al 2014;Balitskiy et al 2014;Leonavičius et al 2015;Mostenska, Bilan 2015;Šimelytė et al 2016).…”
