“…The variable synthesis methods for IL/MOF composites and the ability to customize their physicochemical structures are responsible for their outstanding performances. There are two main fabrication methods for IL/MOF composites: ionothermal synthesis and postsynthesis modification. To fabricate IL/MOF composites, ILs must be incorporated into MOFs, and this incorporation is possible for two reasons. On the one hand, the interaction between the IL and the MOF ensures that IL molecules are introduced into the MOF. On the other hand, the liquid state and low vapor pressure of the IL molecules facilitate their confinement within the pores of the MOF. The ionothermal synthesis and postsynthesis modification methods will be the two focus topics of this section.…”
