Promising Advances in LINC01116 Related to Cancer

Abstract: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are RNAs with a length of no less than 200 nucleotides that are not translated into proteins. Accumulating evidence indicates that lncRNAs are pivotal regulators of biological processes in several diseases, particularly in several malignant tumors. Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1116 (LINC01116) is a lncRNA, whose aberrant expression is correlated with a variety of cancers, including lung cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, glioma, and osteosarcoma. LINC01116 plays… Show more

“…Recently, a number of evidences have been found that lncRNA is implicated in the malignant transformation for a variety of carcinomas, including OSCC [7][8][9][10]. Long intergenic noncoding RNA01116 (LINC01116) is a novel LncRNA located in the 2q31.1 region [11,12]. LINC01116 has been reported to participate in cell proliferation and invasion, cycle arrest, epithelial mesenchymal transition, and chemoresistance, and impose promotive effects on various cancers, including lung cancer [13], breast cancer [14], colorectal cancer [15], and gastric cancer [16].…”

“…LINC01116 was shown to enhance the expression of MYC protein by inducing its translation. Further, the effect of LINC01116 deletion could be partially restored by upregulation MYC expression ( 38 ). However, overexpression of PTCSC3 would suppress the expression of MYC through targeting LRP6 ( 39 ).…”

“…Most lncRNAs lack the capacity to be translated into proteins, but they could regulate gene expression through various mechanisms ( Yang et al, 2022 ). Indeed, lncRNAs play an important role in presenting relevant tumor prognosis ( Xu et al, 2021 ). Meanwhile, some studies have shown that tumor-related lncRNAs could also participate in changing the inherent properties of tumor cells and the expression of immune genes to remodel the tumor immune microenvironment ( Eptaminitaki et al, 2021 ).…”
