Prolymphocytic leukaemia and Hodgkin's lymphoma

Abstract: We describe a case of B-prolymphocytic leukaemia (B-PLL) who, following a long-lasting remission with fluradabine, developed a Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) with bone marrow involvement. A 75-yr-old male was found to have a lymphocytosis [white blood cell (WBC) count = 146 x 10(9) L(-1)], small volume axillary lymphadenopathy, and hepatosplenomegaly. The majority of circulating lymphocytes had a round nucleus and prominent single nucleolus. The patient did not respond to chlorambucil and then received fludarabine, a… Show more

“…68 More anecdotally, case reports indicate that fludarabine can induce CR in chlorambucil-resistant B-PLL, 69 including one account of a long-lasting response (5 years). 70 Finally, fludarabine also achieved a CR in one patient with B-PLL complicated by leukemic pleural effusion. 71 Hairy cell leukemia Hairy cell leukemia (HCL), previously known as leukemic reticuloendotheliosis, is an indolent disorder that accounts for about 2% of all leukemias.…”

“…There are only a few reports concerning single patients treated with PNAs -2-CdA or FA-MP [172][173][174][175][176]. Palomera et al [176] described the previously untreated patients with T-cell PLL, who received 3 cycles of 2-CdA and obtained CR.…”
