Projectile fragmentation ofCa40,Ca48,

Abstract: We have measured fragment cross-sections of projectile fragmentation reactions using primary beams of 40 Ca, 48 Ca, 58 Ni, and 64 Ni at 140 MeV/nucleon on 9 Be and 181 Ta targets. The cross-sections were obtained by integrating the momentum distributions of isotopes with Z 5 measured in the A1900 fragment separator. We compare the extracted cross-sections to the predictions of the empirical parametrization of fragmentation cross-sections (EPAX).

“…We show in Figs. 30 and 31 the comparison between the model predictions and the experimental data for 140A MeV 58 Ni + 9 Be [92,93]. Note that at this energy only about 10% of the reaction cross section is generated by INCL++'s low-energy fusion sector.…”

“…3 the measured cross sections from Ref. [47] and the calculated results of IQMD plus GEMINI for fragments with 12 ≤ Z ≤ 20 from 48 Ca+ 9 Be at 140 MeV/nucleon are plotted. The calculated yields are scaled to the experimental data for each isotope separately.…”

“…Isotope distributions from projectile fragmentation reactions Recent studies of isotope production cross sections from projectile fragmentation reactions were carried out [49], [50] using 40,48 Ca and 58,64 Ni beams at 140 MeV/u on beryllium and tantalum targets from the Coupled Cyclotron Facility at NSCL. These data, and other high quality data obtained [51] using the 86 Kr beam at 64 MeV/u at RIKEN, produced nearly 1800 isotope production cross sections.…”
