Progression Risk Assessment of Post-surgical Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma Based on Circular RNA-Associated Competing Endogenous RNA Mechanisms

Abstract: Background: Accurate risk assessment of post-surgical progression in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) patients is critical. Exploring key differentially expressed mRNAs (DE-mRNAs) regulated by differentially expressed circular RNAs (circRNAs) via the ceRNA mechanism could help establish a novel assessment tool. Methods: ceRNA network was established based on differentially expressed RNAs and correlation analysis. DE-mRNAs within the ceRNA network associated with progression-free interval (PFI) of PTC were iden… Show more

“…The function of RIMS2 in ALL was also not explored previously and could only be indirectly reflected by the studies on other cancers. After analysis of The Cancer Genome Atlas cases, Ke et al [ 48 ] and Wu et al [ 49 ] identified RIMS2 as a prognostic gene for papillary thyroid carcinoma and lung adenocarcinoma patients, respectively. Patients with a high expression level of RIMS2 were reported to have a higher probability of survival compared with cases with a low expression level [ 48 , 49 ].…”

Patients with a high expression level of RIMS2 were reported to have a higher probability of survival compared with cases with a low expression level [ 48 , 49 ]. Immunoprecipitation experiments revealed that RIMS2 may promote anchorage-independent growth and colony formation of liver metastatic breast cancer cells by binding with claudin-2 gene via a PDZ-binding motif [ 50 ].…”

“…Gong et al found that the established ceRNA network was closely related in the progression and metastasis of ccRCC and 3 lncRNAs that may be related to ccRCC prognosis [ 21 ]. However, the difference or advantage of our study lies in a more accurate survival-related ceRNA network [ 22 , 23 ]. Among DERNAs, the total 2,307 DEmRNAs (761 downregulated and 1,546 upregulated), 54 DEmiRNAs (21 downregulated and 33 upregulated), and 1,456 DElncRNAs (459 downregulated and 997 upregulated) were screened.…”
