“…1,19 However, GSCs are now being detected at a relatively early stage due to improvements in endoscopic diagnosis, 20 and recent investigations showed no significant difference in outcome between GSC and upper one-third gastric cancer cases. 14,17,21,22 Although the 5-year survival rates for patients with previous benign disease in the present study were slightly higher than those with previous malignant 15 The authors speculated that the biological behavior of previous malignant GSC might not mirror that of previous benign GSC because of the initial malignancy. We found GSC in 2.7% of all gastric cancers surgically resected in our hospital, which agrees with previous studies showing that GSCs constitute 0.7-6.3% of all gastric cancers.…”

“…In current study, RGCs had a higher incidence of metastasis to the lower mediastinal LNs. After BI reconstruction, intramural lymphatic drainages of distal stomach drained into duodenum, while it flowed to mesojejunum after BII gastrectomy (Han et al 2003;Hu et al 2009). In our study, 25 and 10% patients who had undergone Billroth I reconstruction had No.…”

“…At present, most scholars tend to define it as a primary cancer occurring in the gastric stump more than 5 years after subtotal gastrectomy for benign gastric diseases, such as gastroduodenal ulcer or a second primary cancer more than 10 years after the resection of gastric cancer. Based on whether the surgical margin was positive or not within 10 years after resection of the gastric cancer, GSC can be classified as residual gastric cancer or recurrent gastric cancer [6,7]. The therapeutic strategy is basically the same for GSC, residual gastric cancer, or recurrent gastric cancer.…”
