Progress Towards the Application of the Recovery-Based Disontinuous Galerkin Method to Practical Flow Physics Problems

Abstract: Recent progress in the development of the Recovery-Based Discontinuous Galerkin method of Van Leer and Lo is reported. The method is shown to be competent for boundary value problems that involve second order derivatives, including shear terms, such as the viscous terms of the Navier-Stokes equations. As expected, the method's high order of accuracy yields superior results in terms of error versus computational time.
