“…Thus, new strategies for the high-atom-economic synthesis of the benzoxazole/benzothiazole framework are extremely desirable . As our continued efforts to exploit new carbon–heteroatom bond formation, herein, we report the first element sulfur-mediated oxidative cyclization to furnish benzoxazoles using the CC double bond as a one-carbon source (Scheme b). We also extended this strategy to construct a benzothiazole framework from 2-iodoaniline, alkenes, and elemental sulfur under the Cu­(II)-catalyzed condition.…”
