Progress and Perspectives of Hollow Multishelled Structures

Abstract: In 2004, he began his current position as a Principal Investigator at Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research interests include inorganic materials chemistry, surface and colloidal chemistry, hydrothermal chemistry, sol-gel chemistry, and self-assembly processes, with a focus on the design and synthesis of multishelled hollow micro/nanostructured functional inorganic materials and their applications in energy conversion and storage, photocatalysis, sensors, and drug delivery. “…24 To alleviate the above problems, combining bimetallic sulfides/oxides with conductive carbon materials is an efficient strategy, which can effectively boost the electronic conductivity and mitigate vast volume variation. 25,26 Notably, graphene is an important substrate because of its outstanding mechanical performance, remarkable chargecarrier migration rate, and high specific surface area. 27 For example, Luo et al revealed that the hollow Sb 2 S 3 @FeS 2 /rGO composite obtained by solvothermal and hydrothermal methods exhibited superior cycling durability, which presented a retention rate of 85.7% at 5 A g −1 after 1000 cycles.…”

“…Recently, it has been found that the construction of delicate multi-shell structures can effectively buffer the volume expansion and maintain a stable electrode–electrolyte interface owing to the conductive network formed by connected multiple shells and cores. 138–141 Thus, suitably designing the pore structures of alloy-type anodes to realize the trade-off between the cycling stability and coulombic efficiency should be emphasized.…”

“…EM functional materials, including microwave absorption (MA) materials and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials, emerging as the times require, can attenuate EM waves and prevent EM pollution. [1][2][3][4] Multifarious works have been made to prepare efficient EM functional materials. However, with the popularization and prosperity of intelligent information technology and the Internet of Things, the requirements of EM functional materials in practical applications have become higher.…”
