“…The patients in the present study ovulated 5 to 15 days after the cessation of estrogen therapy (mean 9.8 Ϯ 2.7 days, median 10 days), in agreement with the findings of de Ziegler et al (9) that exogenous estrogen may inhibit follicular recruitment and growth for up to 2 weeks after the onset of the last menstrual period. In a later work, the same group (10) showed that it is feasible and practical to program ovulation in the menstrual cycle with exogenous estrogen, starting on day 25 of the previous cycle. This regimen resulted in a preovulatory LH surge 13 days after cessation of estrogen therapy (10).…”

“…In a later work, the same group (10) showed that it is feasible and practical to program ovulation in the menstrual cycle with exogenous estrogen, starting on day 25 of the previous cycle. This regimen resulted in a preovulatory LH surge 13 days after cessation of estrogen therapy (10). In the present series, estrogen treatment resulted in a 23% pregnancy rate per cycle, which is similar to the natural conception rate in the normal fertile population.…”
