Prognostic value of microRNAs in heart failure

Abstract: Background: Reported studies have shown that expression levels of microRNAs (miRNAs) are related to survival time of patients with heart failure (HF). A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to study circulating miRNAs expression and patient outcome. Methods: Meta-analysis estimating expression levels of circulating miRNAs in HF patients from January 2010 until June 30, 2018, through conducting online searches in Pub Med, Cochrane Database of Systematic, EMBASE and Web of Science and reviewed by 2 … Show more

“…A total of 110 patients with A. baumannii bacteremia were included in this study, including 61 patients in the survival group and 49 patients in the nonsurvival group. The case fatality rate on 28 days was 44.55%, which was similar to the results reported by Huang et al (2020) and Yang et al (2021). In this study, we found that the detection of A. baumannii was mainly concentrated in the ICU.…”

“…Vincent et al (1996) conducted the first retrospective analysis of SOFA score in the first 24 h of 1,643 infected patients, and the results showed that SOFA score was well correlated with mortality. Although SOFA alone has been considered a predictor of mortality in previous studies, the limitation of SOFA is that it does not take into account the patient's age and previous medical history, so there are limitations in the assessment (Yang et al, 2021). For critically ill patients, APACHE II score is recommended to predict the severity of the disease, and the higher the APACHE II score, the more severe the disease (Rhodes et al, 2017).…”

“…The downregulation of hsa-miR-423-3p has been previously reported as a biomarker for acute ischemic stroke patients ( 30 ) and has been associated with worse overall survival in patients with heart failure ( 59 ). However, its upregulation has been linked with onset and severity of Type 1 diabetes ( 60 , 61 ) and it also showed high predictive potential in identifying T2DM remission after sleeve gastrectomy ( 62 ).…”

“…Latest meta analysis assessed the prognostic utility of 19 circulating miRNAs included in four relevant articles in heart failure patients. Meta analysis showed that patients with low expression of miR-16-5p and miR-27a levels have significantly worse overall survival [ 87 ]. MiR-27a was found significantly lower in patients with atherosclerosis compared to healthy individuals, however the study included only 25 patients and 26 controls [ 88 ].…”
