Prognostic significance of phosphorylated P38 mitogen‐activated protein kinase and HER‐2 expression in lymph node‐positive breast carcinoma

Abstract: Hydrophobic comonomers bisphenol‐A and hexafluorobisphenol‐A were incorporated as diol components in the sensor‐coating material poly(ethylene maleate) (PEM), resulting in modified polymers, HCPEM and HFPEM, respectively. To assess the suitability of these polymers as sensor interfaces, the sorption/desorption isotherms and kinetics of water and a range of volatile organic vapors were obtained over the entire relative pressure range of 0.1 to 1.0, using an automated intelligent gravimetric sorption analyzer. “…Although several antibodies are now commercially available to stain Ki-67, anti-MIB-1 is the most frequently used in recent studies (Urruticoechea et al, 2005). In our meta-analysis, antibodies other than anti-MIB-1 and anti-Ki-67 were included, such as anti-Ki-S5 (Rudolph et al, 1999a;Esteva et al, 2004) and anti-Ki-S11 (Rudolph Figure 1 Results of the meta-analysis with all evaluable studies for DFS. A hazard ratio (HR)41 implies a worse DFS for the group with increased Ki-67.…”

“…Different antibodies were used through all trials: anti-Ki-67 was used in 24 studies (52.1%), anti-MIB-1 in 24 studies (52.1%), both antibodies were performed in five studies (Keshgegian and Cnaan, 1995;Veronese et al, 1995;Bevilacqua et al, 1996;Querzoli et al, 1996;Billgren et al, 2002), anti-Ki-S5 in two studies (Rudolph et al, 1999a;Esteva et al, 2004) and anti-Ki-S11 in one study (Rudolph et al, 1999b). The different cut-off values used were those of the authors (range: 3.5 -34%).…”

“…7,8 However, enhanced p38 phosphorylation also correlates with poor prognosis in some patients with breast cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma. 9,10 Similarly, overexpression or activation of p38MAPK has been reported in lymphomas, thyroid neoplasms and human lung tumours. [11][12][13] In addition, inhibition of p38MAPK activity enhances apoptosis and cell sensitivity during administration of chemotherapy drugs.…”

“…Activation of both JNK and p38 has been reported in breast carcinoma, 12 metastatic serous ovarian carcinoma 13 and in gastric cancer 14 whereas activation of JNK and p38 alone has been reported in poorly differentiated liver tumors 15 and in prostate cancer, 16 respectively. A correlation between activated JNK and early stages of nonsmall-cell lung cancers has been described.…”
