Prognostic significance of HALP (hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte and platelet) in patients with bladder cancer after radical cystectomy

Abstract: The outcome of bladder cancer after radical cystectomy is heterogeneous. We aim to evaluate the prognostic value of HALP (hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte and platelet) and explore novel prognostic indexes for patients with bladder cancer after radical cystectomy. In this retrospective study, 516 patients with bladder cancer after radical cystectomy were included. The median follow-up was 37 months (2 to 99 mo). Risk factors of decreased overall survival were older age, high TNM stage, high American Society of … Show more

“…The nomogram indicated that age ≥ 36.5, female, coma and straight sinus thrombosis location were the poor prognostic factors, but higher HALP was still a potential good prognostic factor. The results of the nomogram were similar to those of aforementioned multivariate analyses in tumor [10][11][12] .…”

“…It was the integration of these four indexes and relatively more stable than single blood parameters. HALP was closely associated with clinical features and was an independent prognostic factor in several types of malignant tumors, including genitourinary cancer, bladder cancer and renal cell carcinoma [10][11][12] . However, there were no reports concerned with roles of HALP in CVST patients, especially in acute and subacute CVST patients.…”

“…So far, no study has investigated the association between HALP score and AIS. Recent studies have shown that the HALP score can re ect the in ammation-nutritional status of patients [14,29], and has been proved to be an important prognostic indicator for patients with pancreatic cancer [13], esophageal squamous cell carcinoma [15], and bladder cancer [16]. Anemia and thrombosis could exacerbate in ammation while lymphocytes reduce in ammation [30].…”

“…The hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte and platelet (HALP) score is considered to be an easily calculated marker of systemic in ammation and nutritional status [13,14] and has been con rmed as a signi cant prognostic factor in patients with pancreatic cancer, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, and bladder cancer [15,16]. However, it is unknown whether HALP score is associated with the adverse clinical events of AIS.…”

“…This novel score system has proven to be a good prognostic indicator in gastric, colorectal, renal, bladder, and prostate cancers. [7][8][9][10][11] However, there have been no studies which have been performed an assessment on the HALP score as a diagnostic marker of PCa. In this study we aimed to investigate if there was any statistically significant difference of the HALP score between patients with PCa or BPH.…”
