Prognostic indicators based on inflammatory and nutritional factors after pancreaticoduodenectomy for pancreatic cancer

Abstract: The mGPS, PNI, and NLR were effective predictive indicators of postoperative complications. The PLR was the most useful prognostic indicator for pancreatic cancer patients after pancreaticoduodenectomy.

“…Watanabe et al [18] analysed inflammatory and nutritional parameters using the modified Glasgow Prognostic Score (mGPS), PNI, NLR, and PLR in 46 patients after pancreaticoduodenectomy for pancreatic cancer. In patients with PNI < 40, significantly lower haemoglobin levels and a higher number of intra-abdominal bleedings were noted.…”

“…In multivariate analysis, only the PLR was an independent prognostic indicator. There are some other publications in the literature regarding the influence of immunological status on the incidence of postoperative complications [18].…”

“…Recently, a microRNA markers model in predicting LNM in HCC patients has been reported, but this model cannot be used routinely by clinicians. 10 As serological markers such as the neutrophil/lymphocyte rate (NLR) and platelet/lymphocyte rate (PLR) have gradually become commonly used in clinical studies in the diagnosis and prognosis of various cancers , [11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18] it would be interesting to study the association between serological markers and LNM, which has not been reported in HCC patients. Noninvasive methods that predict LNM in HCC patients provide important information to clinicians to decide on the most appropriate choice of treatment for HCC patients.…”
