In this Research paper two reliability models of a single unit system are analysed in detail using regenerative point technique. The unit fails completely via partial failure. There is single server who appears and disappears randomly from the system. However, he attends the system immediately at complete failure of the unit in Model-I. Server inspects the unit at its partial failure to see the possibility of on-line repair. If online repair is not possible, it is repaired in down state. The server cannot leave the system during inspection and repair. The distributions of failure time, random appearance and disappearance of the server are taken as negative exponential while that of inspection and repair time are arbitrary. All random variables are uncorrelated and independent to each other. The expressions for some reliability and economics measures are derived. The results for a particular case are also obtained to depict the behaviour of MTSF, availability and profit of the system models graphically.

In this paper, a reliability model of a system of two nonidentical units in which one main unit (called original) is initially operative and other is a substandard unit which is kept as spare in cold standby is examined probabilistically in detail under two weather conditionsnormal and abnormal. Each unit has direct complete failure from normal mode. There is a single server who visits the system immediately whenever needed. The operation and repair of the units are not allowed in abnormal weather. However, operation and repair of the units are as usual in normal weather subject to the condition that duplicate unit will not work if main unit is available for working in the system. The distributions of failure time of the units and change of weather conditions follow negative exponential while that of repair time of the units are assumed as arbitrary with different probability density functions. All the random variables are mutually independent and uncorrelated. The expressions for some important measures of system effectiveness are derived in steady state using semi-Markov process and regenerative point technique. The graphical study of MTSF, availability and profit has also been made on the basis of numerical results obtained for a particular case. The results of the present paper has also been compared with the model proposed by Malik and Deswal [6].

The purpose of the present study is to determine reliability measures of a two-unit cold standby system with preventive maintenance and repair. The units are identical in nature subject to constant failure from normal mode. Preventive maintenance of the operative unit is carried out after a pre-specific time "t" up to which no failure occurs. However, repair of the unit is done at its failure. The unit works as new after repair and preventive maintenance. The switch devices are perfect. The distributions of failure time and the time by which unit undergoes for preventive maintenance are taken as negative exponential while that of preventive maintenance and repair times are assumed as arbitrary with different probability density functions. The random variables associated with failure, preventive maintenance and repair times are statistically independent. The semi-Markov process and regenerative point technique are adopted to derive the expressions for system performance measures in steady state. The graphical behavior of MTSF, availability and profit function have been observed with respect to preventive maintenance rate for particular values of other parameters and costs.
