Profit Analysis of A Two Unit Cold Standby System with Preventive Maintenance and Random Change in Units

Abstract: This study discusses the reliability of two units cold standby system with single repair. For achieving high reliability of the system, the operative and the standby units are interchanged at random epochs and additional preventive maintenance of operative and the standby units also. After the repair, the unit is sent for inspection to decide whether the repair is satisfactory. In case the repair is found unsatisfactory the unit is again sent for post repair. Using a regenerative point tech… Show more

“…It is difficult to evaluate the transient solutions hence following El-Said [10], Haggag [11], El-Said and Shrbeny [12], and Wang et al [14], we delete the rows and columns of absorbing state of matrix A and take the transpose to produce a new matrix, say Q .…”

“…He deals with the single server who inspects the degraded unit at its failure to see the feasibility of repair. Later J. Kumar [5], R. K. Bhardwaj [1], A. Goyal [2], K. M. EL-Said [10], S. C. Malik [7] and S. M. Rizwan [8] had contributed to the concept of inspection by analyzing the two non-identical parallel units with priority to repair subject to inspection. J. Kumar and M. S. Kadyan [6] discussed the non-identical system in which the one unit undergoes for repair upon failure, while the second unit is replaced by similar new one.…”

“…Two-unit standby systems have been discussed by various researchers including (Tuteja et al, 2001a;2001b;Goyal et al, 2009;Gopalan and Nagarwall, 1985;Tuteja and Taneja, 1992;Khaled and Mohammed, 2005) in the field of reliability under various assumptions/considerations. Most of these studies are not based on the real data.…”
