Profile of Haemophilia Patients in Manipur

Abstract: BACKGROUNDThe deficiency of blood coagulation factor VIII (F-VIII) and factor IX (F-IX) are called Haemophilia A and B respectively. They are inherited as X-linked recessive traits. They are the most common hereditary haemorrhagic disorders. Patients have increased bleeding tendency especially the joints, muscles and after any trauma. The treatment for haemophilia is by providing factors VIII and IX.
