Profile of Analytical Thinking Skills Through Inquiry-Based Learning in Science Subjects

Abstract: The 2013 curriculum aims to form students who are ready to face the 21st century so that the 2013 curriculum is not only taught about aspects of knowledge but also aspects of skills. Thinking skills are the skills used in the 2013 curriculum, where one of the thinking skills students need is expertise in analytical thinking. These skills are necessary for science learning. Analytical thinking skills can be improved if the teacher trains them correctly, both from the learning model and learning strategies. This… Show more

“…Moreover, the results of the study also provide empirical evidence to support the previous investigation on the effects of the 5E learning inquiring-based technique and graphic organizers on analytical thinking development (e.g., Miarti et al, 2021;Ramadani et al, 2021;Suckoo & Ishizaka, 2021). According to Bybee (2009), the 5E teaching technique is also beneficial in developing learners' thinking processes.…”

“…In addition, studies have been conducted to show the association between the use of the 5E teaching model and the improvement of science learning achievement (Choowong & Worapun, 2021;Sen & Oskay, 2017;Thangjai & Worapun, 2022) and analytical thinking (e.g., Miarti et al, 2021;Ramadani et al, 2021;Suckoo & Ishizaka, 2021). In contrast, the use of graphic organizers in science education research is limited.…”

“…According to (Ramadani & Supardi, 2021), analytical thinking is an ongoing thought process step by step, and every effort is stated clearly and unequivocally based on existing rules so that they are explained to others. For example, think analytical to explain the rules of cross multiplication on the fractional numbers each step based on applicable regulations.…”

“…Living the life of the 21st century, one of the essential things that the world of education pays attention to is the development of students' analytical thinking skill activities (Mayarni, M., & Nopiyanti, 2021;Putri et al, 2019;Suyatman et al, 2021). Analytical thinking is an ability that helps individuals understand and assess material by associating and classifying useful or useless information and evaluating the reliability of information to make problem-solving decisions (Plöger et al, 2020;Ramadani et al, 2021;Sitthipon, 2012). Analytical thinkers are good problem-solvers, mature decision-makers, and active and productive learners.…”
