Weed control has always been an important issue in agriculture. With the advent of no-till systems, soil erosion was reduced but herbicide use was increased. Organic no-till systems try to adjust reduced erosion to the no use of herbicides. Nevertheless, this adjustment is limited by the cost of mechanical weed control. This cost may be reduced by improved cultural weed control with cover crops mulches. In this paper we report a study on the application of compost manure on an oats winter cover crop, preceding soybean, instead of on the soybean summer crop. Treatments comprised a control without compost manure, and compost manure doses of 4 and 8 Mg ha-1 applied either on oats in winter or soybean in summer, organized in a randomized block design, with five replications. In summer, plots were split into weed-controlled or not controlled subplots. The timing of application and the manure doses did not affect the oats biomass or the soybean performance. However, in summer, without water stress, the application of manure at 8 Mg ha-1 directly on soybean has reduced weed biomass in this crop.

A B S T R A C TThe aim with this study was to evaluate the effects of single-and twin-row spatial arrangements associated with different doses of fertilization on soybean yield and its components. The experiment was carried out at Federal University of Goiás, Campus of Jataí, in a split-plot randomized block design with 10 treatments and four replicates. Each plot corresponded to a dose of P and K fertilization (0, 50, 100, 200 and 400% of the recommended dose) and the subplots to two types of spatial arrangements: single and twin rows. The yield components evaluated were plant final population, number of pods and seeds per plant, number of seeds per pod, weight of a thousand grains and yield. The increase in fertilization dose, even at doses two and four times higher than recommendation, results in increased soybean grain yield for both studied arrangements. The single-row arrangement provides greater soybean yield, regardless of the dose of fertilization, although most of the production components were not negatively affected, except the population.

RESUMO:A adubação é influenciada pelas condições edafoclimáticas específicas de cada região, sendo que, para algumas regiões, ainda não há uma recomendação de adubação potássica para a soja por parte dos órgãos oficiais de pesquisa, como é o caso do Estado do Piauí. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a eficiência de doses e épocas de aplicação de potássio (K) na cultura da soja no cerrado piauiense. O trabalho foi conduzido a campo em Latossolo Amarelo Distrófico. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi blocos casualizados, com quatro repetições, em esquema fatorial (5 × 4) + 1, sendo os tratamentos compostos pela combinação de cinco doses de potássio: 30, 60, 90, 120 e 150 kg ha -1 (K 2 O) + controle (zero kg ha -1 ), aplicadas em quatro épocas: 100% no plantio; 50% no plantio e 50% aos 30 dias após a semeadura (DAS); 100% aos 30 DAS; 50% aos 20 DAS e 50% aos 40 DAS. Avaliaram-se as variáveis: altura e fitomassa seca das plantas; teor foliar de K e clorofila; eficiência agronômica no uso e na recuperação do K; índice de colheita de grãos, e produtividade. Apenas a eficiência agronômica no uso e na recuperação do K foi influenciada pelas épocas de aplicação de K. Com exceção da fitomassa seca e do teor relativo de clorofila, todas as demais variáveis foram significativamente influenciadas pelas doses de K aplicadas. Fez-se exceção também a eficiência agronômica no uso do K, que apresentou decréscimo exponencial com as doses. A aplicação de 90 kg ha -1 de K 2 O proporcionou maiores incrementos nas demais variáveis.
