Productivity evaluation of Eucalyptus urophylla plantation established in dryland ecosystems, East Nusa Tenggara

Abstract: The availability of P in acid soils may be raised through the application of phosphatesolubilizing fungi (PSF). Coal fly ash (CFA) that has a high pH and contains a relatively high P may also be used to raise the availability of P in acid sois. The purpose of this study was to explore the possible use of CFA and PSF in a biochar-compost carrier to improve the availability of P and plant growth in acid soil. Combined applications of two PSF isolates (Aspergillus oryzae = F1, and Neosartorya fischeri = F2) carri… Show more

“…The response of plant growth to AMF varies for each type of plant (Rohyadi et al, 2017;Setyaningsih et al, 2018;Begum et al, 2019). Some results of this study are different from those previous study by Suharno et al (2017) and Wilujeng et al (2020) on maize. Type AMF C. lamellosum has a better effect on the growth of maize compared to C. etunicatum.…”

“…The effort was made periodically until late 2016 without having commercial objectives. However, after constructing Timor Tengah Selatan FMU and considering the economic benefit of E. urophylla, the management objective was transformed into a commercial plantation forest for accelerating the scenario of rural development (Sadono et al, 2020) Data collection A field survey was implemented in three priority compartments for E. urophylla development, i.e. Buat, Fatukoto1, and Fatukoto2.…”

“…In this context, the sixth tree was the furthest tree situated from the centre point. Then, the radiuses of each sampling plot (Ri) and plot size (Ai) were counted following these equations (Haxtema et al, 2012;Silva et al, 2017;Sadono et al, 2020):…”

“…Among many tree species, Eucalyptus urophylla can become an alternative plant to support plantation forest development in dryland ecosystems. E. urophylla is a native species from Indonesia that is naturally distributed in dryland ecosystems at East Nusa Tenggara (Sadono et al, 2020). This plant is classified as fast-growing species with a straight stem and dense canopy (Yu et al, 2019).…”

“…The development of E. urophylla in dryland ecosystems is still limited. In Indonesia, E. urophylla is only intensively managed in Timor Island, one of the regions at East Nusa Tenggara (Sadono et al, 2020). Besides becoming its natural habitat, this area is also categorized into dryland ecosystems with long dry periods and low rainfall intensity (Kalima et al, 2019).…”
