Productions of J/ψ mesons in p-Pb collisions at 5 TeV

Abstract: The rapidity distributions of [Formula: see text] mesons produced in proton-lead ([Formula: see text]-Pb) collisions at center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]TeV are studied by using a multisource thermal model and compared with the experimental data of the LHCb and ALICE Collaborations. Correspondingly, the pseudorapidity distributions are accurately obtained from the parameters extracted from the rapidity distributions. At the same time, the transverse momentum distribu… Show more

“…According to the multi-source thermal model [36][37][38][39], we may think that a few emission sources are formed in high energy collisions. For nuclear fragments from the projectile and target in nucleus-nucleus collisions, the sources can be nucleons and nucleon clusters.…”

“…D mesons consisting of one heavy quark and light quark, is produced in the later stage of the fireball, so they carry more information of the medium. High energy elementary collisions, such as pp , pA collisions, have been proposed to study the cold nuclear effects (including the nuclear absorption [14], Cronin effect and shadowing effect [16,17]) for high energy nucleus-nucleus collisions [18,19]. One amazing results in pp collisions is the long-range ridge structure in two particle azimuthal correlations with a large pseudo-rapidity in high multiplicities [20,21].…”

“…The nuclear modification factor R AA is a measurement of the cold and hot medium effects on charmonium production. Cold nuclear matter effects include the nuclear absorption [7], Cronin effect [8] and shadowing effect [9,10]. The first one means that primordially produced charmonium from parton hard scatterings [11] suffer the inelastic scatterings with surrounding nucleons before they move out of the nucleus.…”
