Production Prediction of Hydraulically Fractured Reservoirs Based on Material Balances

Abstract: Transient flow is dominant during most of the productive life of unconventional wells in ultra-low permeabilities resources such as shales. As a result, traditional reservoir performance analysis such as the conventional material balance have been rendered inapplicable. A new novel semi-analytical production predictive tool based on application of material balance on a transient linear flow system is developed.
