“…For a VM (ρ, K * , ω, φ), the coupling depends on the vector amplitude V of the meson. The most simple form which respects LR symmetry and parity is All considered, the final expression for the splitting amplitude respecting the LR symmetry for the splitting q r → h r + q r+1 (more shortly rewritten q → h + q ′ ) is [12]…”

“…3a shows instead the effect of the decay of a VM with oblique polarization for a ρ meson decaying in a pair of pions (the ellipse represents the oblique polarization). When the decay products are ordered according to their fraction of fragmenting quark energy, the oblique polarization is a source of dihadron asymmetry [12]. It is also a source of Collins effect for the final observed hadrons [13].…”

“…In this article we review the string+ 3 P 0 model and present the main theoretical bases and phenomenological consequences of the recent extension of M19 which includes the vector mesons (VM), calculates their polarizations and generates their non-isotropic decays [12] (version M20). This new version has also been implemented in a stand alone MC program which allows to study in detail quantitative model predictions on transverse spin asymmetries and to perform comparisons with experimental data.…”
We present the main theoretical aspects of the quantum mechanical string+ 3 P 0 model of polarized quark fragmentation for pseudoscalar and vector meson production. The model is an extension of the Lund string fragmentation model that systematically includes the quark spin degree of freedom assuming the 3 P 0 mechanism of quark pair production at string breaking. The recently achieved introduction of vector mesons accounts for the spin correlations between the latter and the quark of the fragmentation chain. The string+ 3 P 0 model reproduces transverse spin effects such as the Collins effect and the dihadron asymmetry, and longitudinal spin effects such as the jet handedness.
“…To enable the simulation of these effects with a MCEG, we started a systematic introduction of quark spin effects in the string fragmentation routine of the PYTHIA 8 event generator [7] with the StringSpinner package [8]. The spin effects can be simulated for the DIS process off a transversely polarized nucleon with pseudoscalar (PS) meson production using the recent string+ 3 𝑃 0 model of polarized quark fragmentation [9] and parametrizations of the transversity PDFs for the calculation of the transverse polarization of the struck quark. The model is capable of reproducing the Collins effect as well as the dihadron and jet handedness effects.…”
Quark spin effects in hadronization have been recently included in the PYTHIA 8 event generator for the simulation of the deep inelastic scattering (DIS) process off a polarized nucleon target via the external StringSpinner package. The spin effects can be simulated for the production of pseudoscalar mesons using the string+ 3 𝑃 0 model of polarized quark fragmentation and parametrizations of the transversity PDFs. We present here a major development of StringSpinner which includes the production of vector mesons in the polarized PYTHIA 8 string fragmentation as well as their polarized decays. The package is validated and used to simulate the transverse-spin asymmetries in semi-inclusive DIS (SIDIS). The simulation results on the Collins and dihadron asymmetries for the final state mesons are compared with the asymmetries measured in SIDIS off transversely polarized protons. Also shown are the predictions for the Collins asymmetries for 𝜌 mesons produced in SIDIS off transversely polarized protons.
