Production of, Factors Affecting, Gene Regulations, and Challenges in Tissue Cultured Plant through Soilless Culture

Abstract: Soilless culture also known as water based culture and substrate based culture has immense potential to grow tissue cultured plants in a closed and controlled environment system. This review analyzes the various factors that affect the vegetative growth, reproductive growth, metabolic processes, and gene regulatory functions of tissue cultured plants and the suitability of soilless culture for tissue culture plants. Experiments show that morphological and reproductive abnormalities are mitigated in tissue cult… Show more

“…Soilless cultivation systems, as opposed to traditional field planting and pure culture medium cultivation, offer advantages such as enhanced water and nutrient use efficiency, simplified management, and the ability to address challenges including slow plant regeneration, medium browning, abnormal morphology, and regressive growth [ 6 ]. Consequently, seed breeding methods that incorporate aeroponics cultivation and substrate cultivation within greenhouses have become extensively adopted in commercial settings.…”

“…In vitro tissue culture, believed to be the most suitable model system for testing microbial preparations, provides a controlled environment, allowing for precise manipulation of exogenous factors [ 26 ]. Furthermore, probiotic bacterium Lacticaseibacillus paracasei exhibits substantial growth-inhibitory effects against various microbes, including Staphylococcus aureus , Escherichia coli , Pseudomonas aeruginosa , Penicillium chrysogenum , Aspergillus niger [ 27 ], and Propionibacterium acnes [ 28 ].…”

“…Speed breeding, a state-of-the-art plant breeding technique, enables the production of superior crops within shorter generation times under meticulously controlled environmental conditions. This method integrates various techniques including plant tissue culture, advanced breeding methods, genetic engineering, molecular approaches, utilization of light-emitting diodes (LEDs), growth regulators, immature germination, and micronutrient supplementation to achieve desired breeding objectives and cultivate improved or superior crops . Alternative scientific terms for speed breeding (SB) include rapid breeding, crop improvement, smart breeding, and crop improvement.…”
