Production of doubly charmed baryons nearly at rest

Abstract: We investigate the production cross sections, momentum distributions and rapidity distributions for doubly charmed baryons which according to the intrinsic heavy quark mechanism are produced nearly at rest. These events should be measurable at fixed-target experiments like STAR@RHIC and AFTER@LHC.

“…Other observations at high x F include Λ b , Λ c , single and double quarkonium, double-charm baryons ccu, ccd, we refer to [178] for a more complete overview. We also note here recent works [184,185,186] providing predictions for doubly heavy baryons, B c mesons and all-charmed tetra quarks at AFTER@LHC based on the intrinsic heavy quark mechanism, showing that this mechanism should dominate at high-x F allowing for its observation at AFTER@LHC and potentially confirming the existence of the IC. Ξ cc production at AFTER@LHC was also studied from DGLAP-generated charm in [187].…”

“…The STAR fixed-target program is a fixed-target experiment using the proton beam of the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) with up to 250 GeV/c and the Au beam with up to 100 GeV/c colliding with a wired target. For p beam = 200 GeV/c we may expect the production cross section of the Ξ cc to be σ(Ξ cc ) ≈ (0.2 − 0.3) × 75 nb [17].…”
