Production of Biogas from Organic Fruit Waste in Anaerobic Digester using Ruminant as The Inoculum

Abstract: Abstract. Organic waste, fruit waste and vegetable waste are the best substrate to produce biogas. Waste management system for producing biogas can be used as a solution with the waste problem by converting the wastes into biogas. This study is expected to review of the effect of substrate type and substrate composition for the volume of biogas produced. In this study, materials consist of fruit wastes (oranges, apples, papayas, and tomatoes), cow ruminant, urea, cow dung, Na 2 CO 3 buffer, NH 4 HCO 3 buffer, … Show more

“…According to research conducted by Saragih et al, the solubility decreased as the percentage of TS increased, which affected the solid substrate's mass transfer, such that the higher the solubility, the better the microbes' ability to degrade the COD [30]. Reduced COD levels in anaerobic digestion indicate that materials other than acids can be degraded because organic acids in the liquid phase increase COD [31]. The substrate residence time According to research conducted by Saragih et al, the solubility decreased as the percentage of TS increased, which affected the solid substrate's mass transfer, such that the higher the solubility, the better the microbes' ability to degrade the COD [30].…”

“…Nowadays, most studies focus on utilizing tomato crops, seeds, and peels for biogas production or carotenoid extraction. Many studies investigated the utilization of various kinds of tomato waste, such as those from groceries, processing plants, tomato sauce, and tomato puree [22][23][24][25][26]. There are only few reports on the bioenergetic utilization of stems and leaves from tomato wastes [7,[26][27][28][29].…”
