“…Aside from plasma Met, NALM dosing did not affect concentrations of BCAA in the recently reported studies by Liang et al (2019) and Räisänen et al (2022). Appuhamy et al (2011) reported that jugular infusion of a combination of L-Lys and L-Met led to a 17% reduction in plasma Ile concentration compared with a control treatment.…”

“…Unlike rumen dosing, an abomasal pulse dose of L‐Met or NALM (after deacetylation) is readily available for absorption, and plasma Met concentrations in the current study increased over the first 3 h after abomasal infusion of NALM (Figure 1). Räisänen et al (2022) reported that plasma Met concentration peaked around 1 h after abomasal dosing with L‐Met, whereas the peak plasma Met was reached around 2 to 4 h after abomasal dosing lactating Holstein cows with two NALM doses at 14.4 and 28.8 g/cow/day. Daabees et al (1984) noted when equimolar amounts of L‐Met and NALM were supplemented to young pigs, the portal and venal caval peak plasma Met concentrations were lower for NALM compared with L‐Met.…”
