Production and Properties of Molybdenum Disulfide/Graphene Oxide Hybrid Nanostructures for Catalytic Applications

Abstract: Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) can be an excellent candidate for being combined with carbon nanomaterials to obtain new hybrid nanostructures with outstanding properties, including higher catalytic activity. The aim of the conducted research was to develop the novel production method of hybrid nanostructures formed from MoS2 and graphene oxide (GO). The nanostructures were synthesized in different weight ratios and in two types of reactors (i.e., impinging jet and semi-batch reactors). Physicochemical analysis of… Show more

The peaks corresponded to the functional carbonyl-, conjugated carboncarbon, and carbon-oxygen groups (bond stretching) at 1710-1720, 1618 and 1050-1150 cm −1 , respectively, 42,43 although at relatively low intensity compared to the large shoulder present in the range 3000-3500 cm −1 , which was associated with the adsorbed water and the hydroxyl groups (O-H bond stretching). 44 After high-temperature thermal treat- ment at 586 °C, the formed pure SiO x -sheets had in common the formation of a more uniform strong peak at ca.…”

“…Hybrid nanostructures based on molybdenum disul de and multiwalled CNTs, MoS 2 /CNTs, were synthesized via wet chemical precipitation in an impinging jet reactor, as described in [4,19]. First, 8.828 g of ammonium heptamolybdate tetrahydrate (Merck Millipore, extra pure powder) was added to a small amount of deionized (DI) water (~ 100 mL) in a 250 ml volumetric ask.…”

“…A promising approach for enhancing oil lubricating properties is to use a combination of these two unique materials to bene t from their synergistic effects. Song In our previous study, we precipitated MoS 2 nanoparticles on various carbon nanomaterial surfaces using a facile and scalable method [4,8,19]. The obtained hybrid nanostructures, including MoS 2 /CNTs, were tested as engine oil nanoadditives.…”
