Production and localisation of carboxymethylcellulase, xylanase and ?-glucosidase fromCellulomonas andMicrococcus spp.

Abstract: Cellulomonas and Micrococcus spp. grew well at 30 ° C, p H 7.0, and p r o d u c e d carboxymethylcellulase ( C M C a s e ) and xylanase enzymes. Only one species o f Micrococcus was able to p r o d u c e an appreciable a m o u n t o f ~-glucosidase. This is the first report where Micrococcus sp., isolated from termite gut, was able to p r o d u c e all three enzymes (i.e. C M C a s e , xylanase and fl-glucosidase) required for degradation o f cellulosic and hemicellulosic substrates.
