Production and Enhancement of Hydrogen From Water: A Review

Abstract: The production and escalation of hydrogen on a large scale is a goal toward the upheaval of green and cheap energy. During the last decades, many methods have been espoused to produce more hydrogen fuel. Right now hydrogen is hauled out from different sources, such as oil, coal, natural gas, water, etc. In case of water, the hydrogen is produced by different methods such as electrolysis, photosplitting, photoionization, photocatalysis, product analysis methods, etc. This review paper thrashes out the assessmen… Show more

“…The characteristics of alternative fuels and vehicles and their impacts on emissions reductions and energy consumptions are documented in a number of studies [4][5][6][7][8]. With respect to the literature, the most important analyses are summarized in CONCAWE reports [9,10] and Toro et al [11].…”

“…Among the most studied fields, attention has been driven to the mineralization of organic contaminants [1][2][3] and reduction of inorganic contaminants, [4][5][6][7] disinfection of water and air with different concentrations of pollutants, [8][9][10][11][12][13] production of hydrogen from water and energy production from photovoltaic cells. [14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21] The process of heterogeneous photocatalysis is characterized by the formation of free radicals, especially hydroxyl (OH). These radicals are highly oxidant, non-selective, and capable of reacting with a variety of substances to produce deep modifications in their chemical structure.…”

“…Among them, hydrogen has the outstanding advantages of wide flammable assortment and will also not produce unburned hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide [2][3][4][5], if there are no lubricants in the combustion chamber. In order to adopt, gaseous hydrogen as a fuel for an international engine, lots of research were carried out on hydrogen supply system [3,[6][7][8], combustion characteristics [9,10] and so on. And many areas of research are concerned with the adoption of in-cylinder type injection system for high pressure hydrogen.…”
