Product Configuration in Answer Set Programming

Abstract: This is a preliminary work on configuration knowledge representation which serves as a foundation for building interactive configuration systems in Answer Set Programming (ASP). The major concepts of the product configuration problem are identified and discussed with a bike configuration example. A fact format is developed for expressing product knowledge that is domainspecific and can be mapped from other systems. Finally, a domain-independent ASP encoding is provided that represents the concepts in the confi… Show more

“…52 Gaussian 16 79 software was used for NBO calculations. Molecular electrostatic potential (MESP) 54 calculations were performed at the B97D/def2-TZVPP level of theory using Gaussian 16 software, and the MESP iso-surfaces were plotted using GaussView 6.0 software. Gnuplot 4.6 software was used to plot the reduced density gradient (RDG) against the sign of the second eigenvalue of electron density Hessian matrix times the electron density at the BCP.…”

“…The geometries, binding energies, and NMR properties (chemical shielding constants) of the H-bonded dimers were computed and analyzed. The formation of H-bonds with the chalcogens was confirmed by atoms in molecules (AIM), 51 natural bond orbital (NBO) donor–acceptor interaction energy, 52,53 molecular electrostatic potential (MESP), 54 and non-covalent interaction (NCI) index analyses. 55 Energy decomposition analysis was carried out using symmetry adapted perturbation theory (SAPT2) 56–58 to understand the contribution of different energy components to the total interaction energy.…”

“…The formalization of real-world problems is a particularly challenging task, primarily due to the ambiguities inherent in natural language (Denecker et al, 2009;Wasow et al, 2005). Using the principles of the Configuration problem formalization and maintaining the basic theory described in the Problem Encoding by Mishra (2021), we aim for establishing a suitable Problem Instance for the Land Evaluation problem.…”

“…The specifications and definitions from David G. Rossiter's theoretical framework for Land Evaluation (Rossiter, 1996) are used as the background knowledge shaping the epistemological and ontological dimensions of the described problem. This background knowledge is formalized as system Components (C), with Properties (P ) and Values (V ), and relations between them, following the ASP-based configuration formalization proposed in Mishra (2021). The building blocks of the Configuration formalization are structured in two main problem categories, the Problem Instance and the Problem Encoding.…”
