The crystalline silicon thin film solar cell combines, in principle, the advantage of the crystalline Si wafer-based solar cell with the advantage of thin film technologies. In comparison to the other thin film solar cells the crystalline silicon thin film cell is still in a laboratory stage of development, however substantial progress has been made recently. This paper describes in some detail the processing steps of the crystalline silicon thin film solar cell based on a high-temperature technology and presents the status of its present stage of development.
