Abstract. Previous studies of hospital supply chain performance measurement normally focus on either the performance of the hospital supply chain to be measured and the framework/methodology for performance measurement, or the performance of certain activities/processes in the chain for improvement. There is limited number of studies that explore the entire hospital supply chain performance concurrently with the processes in the hospital supply chain. This paper attempts to explore the performance of hospital supply chain and link them to the activities of the hospital supply chain in order to see the relationship of performance on the hospital supply chain activities to eventually identify the key performance indicator for the particular process. The result of the study shows that relationship of hospital supply chain performance, the business process and the link between the two can yield the key performance indicator for the considered process.

A multiple criteria managerial performance measurement model is generalized in this paper for Taiwanese TV companies. The balanced scorecard (BSC), combination of both financial and non-financial perspectives and criteria, creates a more accurate performance measurement system because it offers a more complete view of a business and can lead to better business decisions. Due to the interdependent relations in decision making, we apply analytic network process (ANP) that tolerates the interrelated relationship among the perspectives and criteria to handle such problems. After reviewing the literatures about the BSC, we collect criteria for managerial performance assessment. To avoid the complicated computing process from additional pairwise comparisons of the ANP, we interview the 105 executives to retain the 12 critical criteria, including: Proposal, Employees' satisfaction, Turnover, Film, Data, Program, Quality, Customers' satisfaction, Market, Revenue, Budget and Profit. According to the hierarchy, Taiwanese TV companies could measure the managerial performance more effectively. A specialized Excel software program was made to facilitate the decision-making process.

Health-care costs are a major inancial burden for the transition economies, which have experienced rapidly increasing demand for health-care services. The former communist countries of the Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia needed to reform the inancing of their health-care systems and make eforts to strengthen the role of primary care while limiting the role of hospital care. The growing health needs and, consequently, costs resulted in the increased atention paid to the performance of health systems. The aim of this chapter is to determine the eiciency of health systems in post-communist countries. The data envelopment analysis method was used. The efective health systems were identiied and recommendations for the ineicient countries were formulated.Keywords: health-care eiciency, post-communist countries, data envelopment analysis IntroductionAt the turn of the twentieth and twenty-irst centuries, both insurance-and provision-based health systems underwent profound changes. Rising health-care costs became a current economic, social and political problem. During this period, the post-communist countries transformed their economies from command to market systems. Also, the health systems were transformed from the Semashko model to insurance model. All countries regardless of their level of economic development endeavour to improve the quality and accessibility of health services, which requires objective and reliable assessment of the functioning of their health systems.
