Abstract

The use of gas in Ukraine began at the beginning of the 20th century. Widespread gasification continued after the end of the Second World War with the launch of the Dashava -Kyiv gas pipeline and its extension to Moscow and Minsk, gas supply to Czechoslovakia. The peak of gas extraction was in the mid-70s of the last century and it amounted to almost 80 billion m 3 . Maximum gas consumption in Ukraine was about 120 billion m 3 in 1991.Due to certain reasons, during the time of Ukraine's independence, gas consumption gradually decreased and in the last five years it has been around 30 billion m 3 . Of this volume, about 20 billion m 3 is domestically produced gas, and about 10 billion m3 is imported gas from the European gas market.The majority of explored natural gas reserves (more than 90%) are located in gas or gas condensate fields. Explored gas reserves in the world are over 80 trillion m 3 . About 60 trillion m 3 have been extracted from the subsoil, with an annual production of more than 2 trillion m 3 of gas. Explored gas reserves are (in billion tons of conventional fuel): world -180; European -70; Ukrainian -1.5. According to forecasts, the depletion of planetary reserves of natural gas should be expected in 2050-2055. There are significant reserves of shale gas and methane hydrate in Ukraine. The Black Sea is rich in gas hydrate deposits (up to 65-70 trillion m 3 ), and in the area of the deep-water Crimean part of the sea, reserves of gas hydrate deposits amount to more than 20 trillion m3. In particular, large reserves of methane hydrate in the Dnipro paleodelta are predicted.In Ukraine, according to [1] in 2035, consumption of 96 million tons is predicted. e., where 29 million tons a.e. will consist of natural gas. In the structure of energy supply over the course of ten years, this is about 30%. At the same time, the share of use of fossil resources decreases from 96% in 2015 to 75% in 2035, and the share of renewable resources increases during the same period from 4% to 25%.With the acquisition of the status of an associate member of the EU and the status of a candidate for EU membership, the role of energy efficiency and energy saving increases. These are measures aimed at effective use of energy reserves and measures aimed at reducing energy consumption. For the population, this means a significant reduction in utility costs, for the country, it means saving resources, increasing productivity and competitiveness, and for the environment, it means limiting the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
