Problems of Observing Academic Integrity by Bachelors in Their Scientific and Research Work

Abstract

The article reveals the essence and features of observance of academic virtue by bachelors in the course of their research work, analyzes the essence of students plagiarism. The relevance is proved and the expediency of using special software for checking scientific papers for plagiarism is substantiated.The article emphasizes that the problems of students plagiarism have systemic nature, caused by a number of factors: the development of the Internet, free access to scientific products, the tolerant teachers' attitude to borrowing other people's ideas, as well as a lack of understanding of the essence of plagiarism by the performers of research work. The spread of this problem is facilitated by a number of negative factors at the state level: the deliberate disregard for the legal norms of society, the bureaucratization of the system of state management of educational activities, the gradual loss of public prestige of higher education. For a comprehensive study of this problem, the authors cited the results of a survey of the student community on the motives and reasons for borrowing scientific information, the most common of which were misunderstanding of the essence of plagiarism, as well as ignorance of the principles of academic virtue. That is why the problem of observing academic virtue is extremely relevant, since it concerns not only the moral qualities of future bachelors, but also their observance of pedagogical and scientific ethics.The authors paid special attention to the need for information and explanatory work for students in higher educational institutions. The authors characterize the system of measures aimed at preventing violations of the principles of academic virtue in force in institutions of higher pedagogical education. The article provides examples of the application of methods for observing academic virtue in the educational process of preparing bachelors of professional education and preventing plagiarism when writing student scientific papers.
